ACT & SAT
The ACT (formerly the American College Testing) is a college readiness assessment. This standardized test is administered to high school students nationally to assist college/university admission directors with decisions related to student enrollment.
The test is broken into four parts and students achieve scores on a scale of 1-36. A Composite score is provided, which is the average of the four scores students received for each test section. The four parts of the test include: English, Mathematics, Reading and Science Reasoning.
Each correct question answered is worth one raw point and no penalty is assessed for incorrect answers on the multiple choice test.
The SAT (formerly Scholastic Aptitude Test, then Scholastic Assessment Test, and now means nothing) is a college readiness assessment. This standardized test is administered to high school students nationally to assist college/university admission directors with decisions related to student enrollment.
The SAT is broken down into three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. The Critical Reading Section focuses on Vocabulary, Critical Reading and sentence-level reading. The Mathematics portion focuses on Number and Operations, Algebra and Functions, Geometry, Statistics, Probability and Data Analysis. The Writing Section, which is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, focuses on Grammar, Usage and Diction.
Test is scaled with either 1600 or 2400 as the highest attained score.
